Bioident Executive to speak at SMALL TIMES NanoCon International

Wasiq Bokhari, CEO of BIOIDENT Technologies, will be participating in a panel discussion on “Enabling New Applications through Nano-printing and Lithography Technologies” at the Small Times NanoCon International Conference, the leading nanotechnology and MEMS networking event, taking place November 14-16, 2007 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Mr. Bokhari has extensive entrepreneurial experience in adoption and commercialization of emerging materials and nanotechnology and will speak specifically about how these technologies are enabling new life sciences applications.

The panel discussion, moderated by Tom Cheyney, senior contributing editor at Small Times, will provide an overview of how nanoprinting and nanolithography offer a number of benefits over traditional methods of device fabrication, including simplicity and low cost. The techniques have been used in electrical, optical, photonic and biological applications and have, in some cases, enabled the creation of more efficient devices. The panel will explore the different approaches, as well as technology and process advances—all with an eye toward impacts they are making or promising in terms of product development, commercialization, and new application opportunities. In addition, the panel will take a peek into the future to predict the expansion and impact of bottom-up approaches.

Joining Mr. Bokari on the panel will be representatives of FUJIFILM Dimatix, Inc., Obducat and Molecular Imprints.

About Wasiq Bokhari
Bokhari is a co-founder and managing partner of Quantum Insight. He works with Fortune 500 companies on the adoption and commercialization of materials and nanotechnology with applications in energy, IT and medicine. Bokhari also works with entrepreneurs and early-stage startups in technology commercialization.
He is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in the field of emerging materials and nanotechnology. He serves as a strategic advisor to Chevron and is part of the team that has built and grown Molecular Diamond Technologies, a new nanomaterials focused business unit. He also serves as a strategic advisor to Hitachi in the areas of emerging electronics, energy and life sciences applications. Bokhari was part of the founding team and interim CEO of Kalinex Inc., a drug discovery instrumentation company. Prior to that, he was part of the founding team and Senior Vice President of Products of Clickmarks, an enterprise infrastructure software company, subsequently acquired by Semotus Solutions.
Bokhari received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under Nobel Laureate Jerome Friedman. He was part of the team that discovered a fundamental particle called the top quark at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in 1995. He is an author of more than 50 scientific and technical publications, and is cited as an inventor on eight patents, granted and applied. He is also the co-founder and Steering Committee Chair of the MIT Stanford UC Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum. Bokhari has worked with PCAST (Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) on issues related to energy. PCAST is the highest civilian body that advises the US President on issues in science and technology.
