Job Description
NANOIDENT Biometrics is looking for a chief scientist in multimodal biometrics, to develop algorithms for the next generation of biometric sensors. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, evaluating, optimizing and maintaining image processing and pattern recognition algorithms for fingerprint authentication, verification and spoof detection, based on multi-spectral skin, tissue and fingerprint images.This person will contribute to the specification of technical and performance specifications for complete biometric solutions; will validate embedded algorithms on prototype PCBs; will plan and perform regular biometric tests (enrollment and fingerprint capture) over a volunteer population representative of typical and difficult fingerprints, and will analyze and interpret such results to propose hardware and software solutions; will simulate or evaluate the influence of physical sensor properties on robustness of the authentication/identification process; and will provide regular algorithm updates.
The Chief Scientist is responsible for analyzing competing technologies, performing technical intelligence, and evaluating risks/opportunities of new patents. This person will also be expected to support application field engineers with application integration issues, to present technical papers on behalf of the company at the most popular international biometrics conferences, and to contribute to NANOIDENT’s global body of knowledge by developing Intellectual Property and performing internal training.
Qualifications
Successful team members should have at least 5 years experience, with demonstrated competency, in the following areas:- Designing and implementing signal processing and image processing/pattern recognition algorithms in the field of fingerprint authentication
- Good knowledge and strong vision in the field of multimodal biometrics
- Strong link to the international scientific community
- Ability to program in MATLAB, C, C++, Java and other modern languages
- General knowledge of the PC environment, data acquisition, microelectronics, mathematics and physics
- Knowledge of some development and debug tools for standard 8- or 16-bit microprocessors would be a plus
